P.W. Gillibrand #30 Silver Sand is a 30 mesh (30 grit) silica sand milled in Simi Valley, CA and stocked at our branches in California, Utah, and Colorado. Sold by the 50 lb bag, 56 bags per pallet. Ship it or pick it up at the store. The 50 lb bag replaces our 100 lb bag. Same silica sand, same specifications, half the lift.

What is #30 sand?

#30 sand is silica sand graded around a US #30 sieve. Gillibrand's #30 has an effective size of 0.20 to 0.40 mm, with most of the material retained on the #40 and #50 screens. It sits in the middle of the range: coarser than #60, finer than #16 or #20. That medium size is why sand 30 works across so many projects, from grout to blasting to filtration.

Is 30 mesh sand coarse or fine?

Medium. If you need a coarse sand for heavy texture or fast-draining fill, step up to #16 or #20. If you need a fine sand for smooth finish coats or tight filtration, step down to #60. For general stucco, grout, and blasting work, #30 silica sand is the size most crews spec.
